ICE Blockchain

Frequently Asked Questions :

Airdrop and Tokenomics

What are the details of the airdrop and associated tokenomics?
ICX/sICX holders will be airdropped 1:1 ratio of equivalent ICE blockchain’s native ICY tokens. The airdropped $ICY will be vested over 3 years, and at least 20% of the airdropped tokens will be made available immediately. The total $ICY supply will be 25% more than the total supply of $ICX.
When is the ICE airdrop snapshot and who qualifies for the drop?
The snapshot has already been taken at block height 44,123,130 (approximately 4 AM UTC on December 29, 2021). Any user who has:
  • $ICX or $sICX in a non-custodial wallet like Hana or ICONex. A non-custodial wallet is one that you control the private key to.
  • $ICX or $sICX deposited into Balanced (Collateral and LP) or Omm (Collateral).
  • $ICX deposited into ICONFi.
is eligible to receive the airdrop. More info here.
Does ICY token reside on ICON blockchain?
No. ICY token is the native token on ICE blockchain and ICE is a separate Layer-1 blockchain with its own consensus mechanism, nodes and validators.

How can I write and deploy smart contracts on ICE?
As a smart contract developer on ICE, you can either use Ink! to write and deploy smart contracts on the core Substrate chain OR you can write smart contracts using Solidity and deploy them inside the ICE EVM

What is SNOW Network?
The goal with ICE is to secure a Polkadot parachain slot. In the Polkadot ecosystem, many projects launch on Kusama (Polkadot’s canary network) before competing for a Polkadot parachain slot. For example, Moonriver on Kusama is the canary network to Moonbeam on Polkadot. ICE will employ a similar strategy by first launching the SNOW canary network on Kusama before targeting an ICE launch on Polkadot later on. Since SNOW is a separate network from ICE, it will not use the $ICY token. Instead the SNOW canary network will have its own token–$ICZ.
